Tips For Choosing Your Flagpole
**TIPS FOR CHOOSING THE PERFECT FLAGPOLE**
Hello! Here are some tips to help you select the right flagpole, whether for personal use or your business.
There are three main types of flagpoles: residential, telescoping, and commercial. Commercial flagpoles are especially durable and suitable for both homes and businesses.
Residential flagpoles range from 6 to 35 feet and are generally made with swaged ends for stability. Look for a minimum thickness of 16 gauge; anything thicker is rare. Keep in mind that these poles handle winds up to 30 MPH with a flag and up to 40 MPH without, though this can change with height and flag size. Most sectional poles are sourced internationally.
Commercial flagpoles usually come in one piece, taper from base to top (starting at 3 inches), and can withstand high winds, even hurricane-force. Though they may cost twice as much as residential poles, they are generally made in the USA and worth the investment.
When selecting a flag size, it should not exceed 20% of the flagpole height for better aesthetics and stability. Most manufacturers’ warranties do not cover wind damage.
Telescoping flagpoles are convenient but can be weaker. One exception is the TITAN telescoping flagpole. Titan offers impressive strength with a wind rating of 95 MPH and a solid 12-gauge design.
